4 Stars Great for Amount we spend!
Good, nice as this is my first GPS it works great and i felt easier and flexible than GARMIN.
2 Stars Disappointed that it broke so soon
I loved it when I first got it but the touch screen stopped working after about 9 months of periodic use. I will replace it with a Garmin or Magellan which many people have recommended. Dont waste your money on this or if you do, buy an extended warranty.
4 Stars Yes & No
The TomTom ONE 125 is a handy “little” item when traveling from point A to point B. The voices are audible and speak distinctly with full directions. If you travel a lot, buy the “Traffic” accessory. The somewhat small screen, 3.5″, is easy to see and read. I have two complaints with the ONE 125, but it’s not with the device itself, it’s the flimsy holder’s very weak suction cup. Just when you think it’s up there to stay where you want it, it loosens and drops on the transmission tunnel. I tried using the recommended ProClip for better stability, but even though it works, it gives you little choice where to mount it. The best mounting solution I’ve seen so far is using the TomTom “Bean bag” dash mount. It’s a little hokey, but it really works. DON’T BUY the ProClip mounting device unless you have a convenient and easy to see place on your dash to mount it. All in all, the ONE 125 is a great GPS for the beginning user. BN
1 Stars great if you don’t update it!
Bought unit @ a brick and mortar and plugged it in immediately, it worked great, by the time I stepped through the tutorials (which you really don’t need to do, its pretty simple) it had found the map and I was able to run the rest of my errands with the unit running. When I got home I plugged it in to my laptop and installed tomtom home on it. It told me I needed to update my software when it was done I dismounted the unit and it went to a gray screen and said “No Maps Found!” Several attempts to reinstall the software on my computer and redownload updates didn’t work. I googled “No Maps Found!” and tomtom and apparently this is a known issue (going back 2 years!) with less than stellar reviews of tomtom tech support.
4 Stars Great product for the price
If you want a simple to use, simple to set up, and simple to understand navigation system that will get you from point A to point B, then this is the unit for you. Both my wife and I have had one of these for three years and have had only two or three times that it did not take us to the right place.
My job moves me around a lot, so we live in a different city or town every two or three years. Not only is this thing invaluable in new places where we don’t know the area, but also helps us when we visit family in other states.
Maybe I haven’t gotten on the TomTom website enough lately, but having a free map update would be helpful. The “points of interest” are hit and miss. We just usually look up an address on my iPhone or the local phone book and punch that into the TomTom and it takes us there. Addresses usually stay the same, but the name of businesses at that address change.
New home construction is where we have the biggest issue. Out house we live in right now is in such a new development, that it is not on the TomTom’s database. But, we just set “home” as a cross street about a mile away.
Again, if you want something simple, with no bells and whistles, for pretty cheap, get this unit.
We love it and will probably keep them until they die.
